ASD Università popolare dello Sport was started in 1994 to promote physical activity, sport and wellness in Adult Education and Long Life Learning. Our mission is to spread the meaning of movement as a way to increase individual health, to consider body awareness as a value in personal and social life, to live the environment respecting nature and biodiversity. Our activity includes different areas:

Classes for all the people without age limits. We offer a wide range of courses and learning activities. We look at the Long Life Learning as an opportunity to live a healthy life with body awareness, personal wellness and better social relationships.

Training Courses: Shiatsu, Yoga, Naturopathy, Reflexology, Sport Management. Our Schools promote a training towards new professions, where natural techniques, wellness, body movement and prevention are the main goals.

Phisical Activities training for trainers: Soft Gym, Postural Gym, BLSD (Basic Life Support Defibrillation). These proposals are ment for professionals (teachers, social and sport operators etc.) that want to enrich their knowledge in health and wellness disciplines.

In-depth Workshops. They represent an opportunity to integrate our basic courses with more specific aspects of each discipline.

Nature and Environment. We promote trekking, journeys, week-long wellness sessions and other kind of events aimed at the respect  of the environment, nature conservancy and ecological education. We also offer the opportunity to study and visit archeological and artistic sites.

Orientation Services and Counseling. We organize an Open Sport Week with free lessons and conferences addressed to people who want to know more about physical activity and wish to be oriented in their sporting choice. Our counseling service is opened all throughout the year.

Educational Wellness Center. This is a space for those who want to deepen some physical and wellness activities in an individual classes, which is very useful to focusintervention on prevention and individual psyco-physical health.

ASSOCIAÇÃO RECREATIVA CULTURAL E SOCIAL DE SILVEIRINHOS, Portugal

The Associação Recreativa Cultural e Social de Silveirinhos, ARCSS, founded in April 29th, 1995, is headquartered in São Pedro da Cova, Gondomar, near Porto City. ARCSS implemented valid structured projects in favor of children, young people and adults, from areas with large gaps, whether economic or social. At the moment, ARCSS has about 200 young and adult people participating in their weekly activities (sports, study, social work, leisure and entertainment) and a total of 250 associated members. In 2004, ARCSS obtained the accreditation at the IQF (Institute for the quality of training), in the following areas: organization and promotion of training activities and development/implementation of training activities.

From June 2005, ARCSS began the implementation of Actions S@ber+, co-financed by the European Social Fund, under measure 2.1.Continuing Vocational Training, Action Type 2.1.2.1. Further training and specialization of Qualified Assets, integrated in the axis 2 – life-long training and adaptability, the POEFDS (Operational Program of Employment, Training and Social Development).

In 2005, the ARCSS held 10 shares S@ber+, for 150 trainees assets, and the population joined in an incomparable way. Another project of the ARCSS that most boasted new activities enhancing the community was, without a doubt, the project “different sensitivities, Equal Opportunities”, which ran between June 2005 and November 2006, co-funded by the European Social Fund under measure 4.4. integrated in axis 4 of POEFDS (Operational Program of Employment, Training and Social Development). ARCSS, also, developed, two projects supported by the Youth Program: the project “Local and Regional Policies for Youth” (Project reference: 130852-5.1.2 – EN-2006-R1) – www.politicasdejuventude.eu , developed through Action 5.1.2; and the project “Be Young Student”.

The ARCSS is member of: RNAJ – National Register of Youth Associations by the Secretary od State for Youth CCD – Center for Culture and Sports of Inatel, FAJDP – Federation of Youth Associations of the District of Porto, FCCG – Federation of Collectivities of the Council of Gondomar, FNAJ – National Federation of Youth Associations Local, AFP – Football Association of Porto, ABP – Association of Basketball of Porto, AAP – Association of Handball of Porto and the Municipal Council of Youth of Gondomar.

Beyond all the work in social, cultural and sports areas, ARCSS is known for projects developed with adults and youth in the areas of formal, non-formal and informal education. We highlight, for example, the Leonardo da Vinci Project “Women meet for tradition”, which has been developed since 2004 with European partners, in order to develop skills, boost employability and enhance the transfer of innovation in vocational training for women in the craft area. In another project, Grundtvig, “Learning by body”, the

ARCSS is developing skills and creating healthy habits when it comes to holistic, multidisciplinary and cross-learning through the body. This year, ARCSS has partnered with one of the most prestigious training schools of Porto, “TECLA”, in order to invest in adult education, in all areas. Recently, ARCSS won a national application for the ESCOLHAS Programme. In 250 applications, ARCSS wasone of 15 funded organizations, and is currently developing the project “e-Youth”, for young adults (18 to 30 years old). The goal is to educate and train this target group and, after training professional in the design and communication area, set up a company to employ and generate a business.

DACORUM COUNCIL FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE                 United Kingdom

Dacorum CVS has a staff team of 35 plus many tutors and interpreters, who engage as required. In the past year, our European Project activity has evolved from two staff to also engage four colleagues (who have subject relevant expertise) as part of a strategy for developing our expertise in this area. The organisation turnover is £1.6 million. We have the following quality standards; Investors in People, Investors in Diversity, Matrix Accreditation and ISO9001 (specific to our HertsInterpreting and Translation Service).

We are an adult educational provider and we combine this role with community development, support and services. We deliver a range of leisure and employability skills related courses, including ESOL, Interpreter training, Beauty, Music Studio, Basic Construction, Forklift driver training, exercise for women, Belly dancing, Yoga and courses to support NGO’s in improving their organisational capacity.

Our projects meet community needs, e.g. Community Transport, Shop mobility, Corporate Social Responsibility, Cultural Learning Project, an Interpreting and Translation Service, an Adult Career Information Advice and Guidance, Migration Integration and Domestic Violence support. Many have adult learning as an integral part of their delivery and address the needs of those facing barriers and disadvantages, and we look to provide personnel  and provide spoken support  to raise the individuals’ confidence and their quality of life.

We are an NGO which supports other NGOs and have 240 in membership. The support includes training, advice with funding, governance, policies etc, hire of equipment, a print shop and payroll service. We represent NGO’s in strategic and other partnerships (such as providingtheChair of DacorumLearningPartnership), where we sit with the public and private sectors in community planning and ensuring good current service delivery. We actively engage with a wide variety of subject areas; such as European funding, economic development, social enterprise, children and young people, migrant workers, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, older people, the environment, community safety and lifelonglearning.

We use our expertise as outlined above to engage in a range of European transnational projects (as outlined below) and our ethos is that we have a story to share and many stories to learn as part of developing new ideas to develop the support we provide in our Community.

At a local level we work closely with Hertfordshire Sports Partnership and Dacorum Borough Council on initiatives to Support Community level sport organisations and to encourage participation as a means of supporting individual Health and Wellbeing. This includes a newly funded initiative entitled Get Set Go Dacorum, where we are one of 19 partners working on a three year Project to Support Young people and adults facing disadvantage to engage in sport.

At a European level we are a partner in a Youth in Action Project entitled Sport Plus, which has held a workshop in june 2014 in Palermo with participants from 11 countries on the topic of increasing sport participation.

ASSOCIATION OF CITIZEN WORK IN PROGRESS – RADOVI U TOKU, Serbia

The organization Work In Progress (RUT), focuses its activities on culture seen as a tool of prevention and of local delvelopment, on tourism− a tool that could favor the employment together with the valorization of the territories (local resources), on sport− a tool of inclusion of vulnerable categories, on visual art and creativity, intercultural dialogue and multhiculturalismstarting from the territory (Vojvodina is a multicultural province characterized by several minorities) creating partnerships at European level.

The CSO is part of the following Interntional Networks: Elsir (European Latin American Network), of EuropeIn2020, FARE, CultureNet, ECF Lab and it is part of an informal Network of CSOs that brought culture, music, theatre performances, exhibitions in rural areas through the usage of the Boat Theatre that was reaching places navigating through rivers as well as channels. WIP has supported the production of short movies, video docs and documentary films and has organized, from 2005 up to 2010, the Umbria Jazz Festival – Multiethnic Music Against Racism in collaboration with the Province of Perugia and Umbria Region. In 2014 it has been was planned to foster activities on inclusion not only of Roma Children but also of people with disabilities. Members of the organization are specialized in the organization of in- and outdoor events. In 2014 RUT planned to increase the number of intervention in the field of leisure time, sport in particular, and is undertaking the needed actions to involve in the activities orphanages, institutions for children with mental and/or phisical disabilities as well as special schools. The sport activities planned for 2014 will continue to involve Roma Children and youth, elementary schools as well as football players belonging to any ethnic minority.
